Three islands to be leased for resort development from Bodu Thiladhumathi

The Ministry of Tourism has decided to open three more islands for auction from Haa Dhaalu Atoll to build resorts in the atoll. 

The ministry released the information via a tweet. The message, however, did not identify the islands. 

The government of working to increase tourism in Thiladhumathi by enhancing the atoll's bed capacity by 8,000. Therefore, the government claimed that the three would contribute to the growth of the tourism industry in the area. 

The government on Wednesday night announced the re-development of Hanimaadhoo International Airport. Under this, a new runway of 2.46 km will be set p at Hanimaadhoo with a state-of-the-art terminal that can cater to 1.3 million passengers annually. 

The target is to complete the airport development project by next year.
