Maldives marks Azerbaijan’s Independence Day with renewed diplomatic pledge
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Maldives' dedication to enhancing diplomatic relations and cooperation with Azerbaijan as the country celebrates its Independence Day.
In official messages sent to Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev and Prime Minister Ali Hidayat oghlu Asadov, President extended warm congratulations and conveyed his best wishes for their continued health, happiness, and national prosperity.
Reflecting on Azerbaijan’s historic journey toward sovereignty, President praised the resilience and unity demonstrated by the Azerbaijani people in their pursuit of independence.
He noted that this significant milestone is a symbol of national strength and determination.
Taking to social media platform X, the President also reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan.
This historic day reflects the resilience and unity of the Azerbaijani people. The Maldives remains committed to strengthening our friendship and cooperation in the years ahead.

Azerbaijan first declared its independence on 28 May 1918, a landmark event in its national history.
Formal diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Azerbaijan were established on 15 June 2006, providing a framework for continued bilateral collaboration in various sectors.
