Foreign Minister Khaleel meets Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar in New Delhi
On the sidelines of the second meeting of the Maldives–India High-Level Core Group (HLCG), Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, held a bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart, Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in New Delhi.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the ministers held a productive discussion focused on further strengthening the longstanding and close ties between the Maldives and India.
The talks centred around enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economic, maritime, and regional engagement.
In a post on social media platform 'X' following the meeting,
Pleased to meet FM [Abdulla Khaleel] of Maldives today. Welcome Maldives’ support and solidarity in combatting terrorism. India remains committed to Maldives’ progress and development.
Dr Jaishankar stated
This marks the second bilateral meeting between the two ministers this year.
Minister Khaleel previously met Dr Jaishankar in March 2025, during his visit to India for the 10th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, an influential global conference on geopolitics and international affairs.
The meeting also took place in the broader context of the implementation of the India–Maldives Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, endorsed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2024.
