A senior delegation from the Maldives, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel, attended the second meeting of the High-Level Core Group (HLCG) between the Maldives and India, held today in New Delhi.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting builds on the first HLCG session held in Malé on 29 January 2025, which laid the foundation for structured dialogue under the joint vision statement titled “India and Maldives: A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership.”

The vision document was endorsed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting in October 2024.

During the second round of discussions, both sides exchanged views on a broad range of cooperation areas, including transport and connectivity, trade, agriculture, fisheries, health, economic development, defence and security, training and capacity building, and fostering people-to-people ties.

The Maldivian delegation included senior officials from the President’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Finance and Planning, and the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the meeting marked continued progress in advancing mutual priorities and strengthening the multifaceted bilateral relationship between the Maldives and India.
