Former President Dr. Waheed appointed Special Envoy; Role to be non-salaried

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed former President Dr Mohamed Waheed as his Special Envoy, in a ceremony held at the President’s Office earlier today.

The President's Office confirmed that the newly appointed role carries no salary.

Dr Waheed brings to the position a wealth of experience, having previously served as President, Vice President, member of the Special Majlis, and in senior leadership roles at UNICEF.

During the appointment ceremony, President described Dr Waheed as a highly capable and experienced leader.

He urged the former president to play an active role in strengthening the Maldives’ foreign relations and building productive partnerships with the international community to support the country’s economic development.

President also pledged his full cooperation in enabling Dr.  Waheed to fulfil his responsibilities effectively.

In his remarks, Dr Waheed expressed gratitude for the opportunity to once again serve the nation.

He assured the President that he would carry out his duties with dedication and commitment.
