Minister of Economic Development and incumbent Chairperson of MDP Fayyaz Ismail has claimed MDP's offices are being used without obtaining permission from the party. 

Speaking on the sidelines of the National Assembly meeting of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Minister Fayyaz stated that the party's offices are being used for activities without obtaining permission. Fayyaz claimed that on two occasions MDP campaign offices were used for activities without gaining permission from the party. 

Fayyaz was referring to the use of MDP's campaign offices to fill up Nasheed's support forms and hold campaign meetings. However, Fayyaz did not mention Nasheed's name directly. 

While President Nasheed and President Solih have announced their intention to contest in the upcoming MDP presidential primary, President Solih's campaign activities have been carried out at Chandhanee Magu's "President Solih 2023" campaign office. 

Most recently MDP has been divided into two factions during the past months with Nasheed and Solih rumoured to have creating rift between both of them.
