In a move to facilitate the development of integrated tourism, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially removed the uninhabited island of Kaadevaarehaa from the jurisdiction of Gaafu Dhaalu Hoan’dedhdhoo.

According to the President’s Office, the decision aligns with President Muizzu’s development pledges and was made under the powers granted to the president by the Decentralization Act.

The decree published in gazette today includes an updated map reflecting the revised jurisdiction of Hoan’dedhdhoo following the exclusion of Kaadevaarehaa.

This change is part of the government’s broader efforts to promote tourism across the country.

In the past, uninhabited islands have been added to or removed from the jurisdiction of inhabited islands for various economic and social development purposes.
