The Maldivian women’s national basketball team has achieved a historic milestone by winning their first-ever silver medal at the 3rd SABA Women’s Basketball Tournament, organized by the South Asia Basketball Association (SABA).

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu congratulated the team in a post on X, commending their determination and impressive performance in the final against India.

Congratulations to the Maldivian national team for their outstanding performance and courage in the match against India in the regional tournament held in New Delhi, India.

The Maldivian team advanced to the final after a strong performance against Nepal, tournament’s runners-up.

In the final match, India emerged victorious with a 107-32 win.

Raifa Ibrahim led the Maldivian side with seven points, while Aminath Shiura Abdul Bari and Fathimath Ihau Shameem each contributed six points.

Upon their return to the Maldives, Vice President Latheef warmly welcomed the team, celebrating their remarkable achievement and the pride they have brought to the nation.
