Abdulla Nazeer, the Minister of State for Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development, announced that the government is actively working to ensure that Maldivian students receiving Presidential Scholarships are given opportunities to study at prestigious universities worldwide.

Speaking on the state media program "52 Weeks," Nazeer revealed that 19 students had been awarded the Presidential Scholarship this year, which allows them to pursue higher education at any university and in any field of study.

However, he acknowledged the challenges that students often face in gaining admission to top-tier institutions such as Oxford, Harvard, and Cambridge.

To overcome this barrier, Nazeer confirmed that the government is working to secure at least one or two places for Maldivians in these renowned universities each year.

We are working to ensure that 1 or 2 places are secured for Maldivians who receive Presidential Scholarships from world-renowned universities such as Oxford, Harvard, and Cambridge,

He said

Although spots at these universities are not predetermined, the government is pushing for establishing a system to ensure that places for Maldivian students are available in advance, making it easier for scholarship recipients to pursue their education at globally recognized institutions.
