Police have seized a significant quantity of alcohol from a safari near Gadhdhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, following a tip-off.

According to the Maldives Police Service, officers from the Gadhdhoo Police Station and the Drug Narcotics Intelligence conducted a targeted raid on the safari boat after receiving intelligence regarding the presence of illegal liquor onboard.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 1,224 cans and 124 bottles of liquor.

The seized items are now in police custody, and two individuals were detained in connection with the incident.

Both were later released after questioning, pending further investigation.

The case is under police investigation.
