Maldives Immigration authorities have apprehended nine foreign nationals in Hulhumalé as part of an ongoing effort to identify and remove individuals working in the country without proper documentation.

The arrests were made during raids at ten different locations across the city yesterday, according to the Immigration Department.

This operation is part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigrants, with regular inspections and enforcement actions being carried out to ensure compliance with immigration laws.

Since November 17th of last year, the department has repatriated 4,054 expatriates after completing the necessary documentation procedures.

The Maldives continues to face challenges related to illegal immigration, which has had significant impacts on local communities and the labor market.

Authorities are intensifying their efforts to address these concerns and maintain control over the country’s immigration system.
