Four injured in Hulhumale’ motorcycle crash, child among victims
A collision between two motorcycles in Hulhumale’ on Saturday morning left four people injured, including a child.
The incident occurred in Phase I of Hulhumale’, according to the Maldives Police Service.
The injured individuals were transported to Hulhumale’ Hospital with varying degrees of injuries.
Police also confirmed that one of the injured is a child.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
This accident follows a series of recent incidents, including a crash on Thursday in Malé where a motorcycle hit a three-year-old girl as she crossed a zebra crossing, causing head injuries.
On Friday, a man was caught on video allowing a schoolboy to steer a motorcycle on the Hulhumale’ Highway, leading to a police investigation for child endangerment.
In response to the growing number of traffic incidents, the police have increased patrols in the capital.
Last month, they set up checkpoints and began motorcycle patrols on the Sinamale’ Bridge and Hulhumale’ Highway, areas known for frequent accidents.
Police statistics show these measures have led to a reduction in accidents.
