The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has officially opened a cutting-edge Hybrid Operating Theatre at Dharumavantha Hospital in Malé, marking a significant advancement in the country’s healthcare capabilities.

The new facility is equipped with a catheterisation laboratory and is designed to support a range of highly specialized procedures, including neurological, cardiac, and peripheral interventions.

IGMH made the announcement on social media platform X, expressing enthusiasm about the impact this new theatre will have on the provision of world-class medical services in the Maldives.

The Hybrid Operating Theatre is situated on the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital and is expected to streamline complex surgeries, bringing enhanced treatment options to local patients.

This marks a significant milestone for the hospital, which has mobilized the theatre six years after its initial planning.

Dharumavantha Hospital was originally developed under former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration, with the overall project costing over MVR 2 billion.

Presently, several floors of the hospital are utilized by IGMH for various medical services.
