A new batch of MVR 50 notes is to be released next month
A new MVR 50 bank note will be issued into the currency in circulation starting from next month.
According to a statement release by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), MMA stated that newly printed MVR 50 notes has the symbol of the Rufiyaa on both side. MMA stated that Rufiyaa symbol sign appears beside the face value of the note, the face value on the face, and the face above the right hand of the note's back.
The note was signed by MMA Governor Ali Hashim. The date on the note is September 8, 2022, 12 Safar 1444.
Even if a new MVR 50 note is issued in print and the existing MVR 50 note will continue to circulate.
A new set of currency notes was issued in 2016 to replace the nation's previous notes. The new notes were released by Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom during his term in office.
The notes, which featured security elements found in contemporary papers, were also released in conjunction with the nation's independence day fifty years earlier.
The note series comprises of notes worth 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and the recently released 1,000 notes.
