Government to sell MVR 3.3 billion worth of T-bills

The government has opened up the sale of Treasury Bills (TBills) worth MVR 3.3 billion.

The Finance Ministry has announced the sale of Four T-bills. The Ministry opened the sale of T-Bills worth MVR 445 Million for repayment in 28 days and t-bills worth MVR 262.7 Million for repayment in 98 days.

A total of MVR 970.8 Million worth of T-bills to be repaid in 182 days has been announced for sale, while T-bills worth MVR 1.69 billion have been announced for repayment within 364 days.

The settlement date for T-Bill has been declared as May 21. The interest rate on these T-Bills ranges from 3.50 per cent to 4.60 per cent.

T-bills sold by the government have been bought by pension funds, some banks and some state-owned companies. Several private companies have previously bought T-Bills. Pension administrative offices' new CEO Sujatha Haleem on Wednesday stated that the country's pension funds have so far been invested in MVR 13.5 Billion worth of T-Bills.
