Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has said that the people of Maldives will stand with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Tweeting on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of President Solih's, Ameer stated that despite the recent global economic crisis, the Maldivian economy had been held back and that President Solih's decisive actions along with his good humour and long-term thinking had kept the country's peace and stability.

Ameer stated that President Solih has ensured that development can be brought to the people equally although with all the challenges. 

President Solih has previously expressed interest in running for a second term in office and President Mohamed Nasheed had also earlier announced that he would be contesting the MDP primary.

However, MDP has yet to announce the date for the presidential primary.
