The Maldives and the United Kingdom have held discussions aimed at further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.

The talks took place during a meeting between Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed and British Ambassador Nicholas David Low.

During the meeting, both sides explored ways to enhance existing ties, with a particular focus on defence collaboration.

Minister Hassan Rasheed expressed appreciation to the United Kingdom for its continued support in strengthening the Maldives’ defence capabilities.

The Maldivian government has been working to further develop the capacity of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

As part of these efforts, the MNDF engages in various training programmes with several international partners, including the UK.
