Government to develop Kudagiri Island addressing resource shortages: Heena Waleed

Heena Waleed, serving as the Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office, took to social media on X tonight to address mounting concerns over the state of amenities and resources on Kudagiri Picnic Island.

In her statement, Heena acknowledged the grievances expressed by citizens regarding the island's infrastructure and services, affirming the government's commitment to rectify these shortcomings through an extensive development initiative.

Highlighting the island's intrinsic value to the people of Male' and the broader Maldivian community, Heena underscored Kudagiri's significance as a cherished retreat and leisure destination. Originally established as a designated picnic spot tailored to cater to the recreational needs of residents in the greater Male' region, Kudagiri has evolved into a beloved sanctuary for locals seeking respite from urban life.

Since its official inauguration by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in February 2023, Kudagiri has stood as a testament to the Maldives' commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental preservation.

Spread across 8 hectares of reclaimed land, Kudagiri boasts amenities up to a three-star standard, including a 1.5-hectare bay and pristine beachfront.

Accessible via a short 10-minute boat ride from Male', the island is poised to undergo further development to meet the evolving needs of its visitors.
