The Maldives has strongly denounced the recent terrorist attack that took place during a concert in the capital city of Russia, Moscow.

Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Russian Federation, its citizens, and particularly to the families of the victims, emphasizing the government's firm condemnation of the heinous act.

The attack, claimed by the ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) through a message circulated in their Telegram group, resulted in a tragic loss of lives and left hundreds injured.

According to Russian news reports, the assault occurred last Friday, claiming the lives of 133 individuals, while causing significant injuries to many others.

Reports from Russian sources detailed how multiple gunmen stormed the concert hall, indiscriminately opening fire with automatic weapons and detonating explosives, triggering a devastating blaze that engulfed the building.

In response to the attack, Russian Security Services swiftly apprehended four individuals believed to be responsible for the shooting.

The incident marks a significant act of terrorism on Russian soil, the largest since 2017.
