New Philippine Ambassador formally accredited in Maldives
The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Philippines to the Maldives, Nina P. Cainglet, formally presented her Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during a ceremony held at the President’s Office.
The ambassador was escorted to the ceremony in a traditional Haiykolhu cultural procession accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force Drum and Trumpet Band, in accordance with diplomatic protocol.
President Dr Muizzu accepted the credentials and officially welcomed Ambassador Cainglet, marking the beginning of her tenure as the Philippines' representative to the Maldives.
Following the accreditation ceremony, the President and the ambassador held discussions on matters of mutual interest and avenues for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Cainglet conveyed appreciation for the hospitality and support extended to Filipino nationals living and working in the Maldives.
Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The discussions reflected the longstanding friendship between the Maldives and the Philippines, with both countries expressing a desire to further deepen diplomatic engagement and people-to-people ties.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Philippines were established on 12 July 1974, and the two nations have continued to maintain cordial relations through cooperation and regular diplomatic exchanges.
The presentation of credentials marks another step in strengthening the partnership between the Maldives and the Philippines as both countries seek to expand collaboration and reinforce their longstanding ties.
