Fire breaks out in Addu city near Hulhudhoo Habour
A fire has broken out in a forest near the harbour of Addu City's Hulhudhoo district on Friday. This is the second incident in the area within a few hours.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)'s spokesperson stated that firefighters from the Hulhumeedho Fire Station had arrived at the scene of the fire around 08:03 pm. According to the spokesperson, the fire had spread to containers where asphalt was stored.
According to the spokeswoman, the fire spread to nearby containers that contained asphalt.
A rubbish pile in the same region caught fire earlier on Friday, and firemen had to put it out.
Firefighters arrived at the earlier incident at 05:08 pm, according to an MNDF spokesperson. At 6:50 PM, the fire was extinguished.
According to the spokesperson, Firefighters continue to put water into the container to maintain the cool of the asphalt.
