Maldives' economic growth in focus as Minister Saeed meets Chinese bank officials

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed is actively seeking new opportunities for economic growth and trade expansion for the Maldives through strategic discussions with Chinese banks.

Currently attending the 15th World Economic Forum at the Dalian Congress Hall in Dalian Province, China, Minister Saeed is leveraging this platform to strengthen bilateral ties.

On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Saeed held productive meetings with senior officials from various Chinese banks.

On Thursday, he engaged with representatives from the China Industrial and Commercial Bank (ICBC) to discuss potential strategies for deeper engagement.

He also met with senior officials from the Bank of China to explore ways to bolster cooperation between the two nations.

Minister Saeed confirmed these meetings on X, highlighting the discussions focused on enhancing trade relations.

He emphasized the progress made following talks between Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Chinese President Xi Jinping during President Muizzu's official state visit to China on January 6th.
